I want to take a moment to address the overwhelming amount of information and messages you may encounter about insurance, benefits, and even government programs. Whether it’s Medicare, health insurance (including ACA plans), life insurance, or Social Security, it’s important to understand what’s real and what’s just noise—or even outright scams.
You’ll continue to receive mail, emails, phone calls, and texts from organizations promoting insurance plans or benefits. Many of these are advertisements designed to grab your attention using trigger words like “The Tennessee Plan” (unless it is coming from your employer’s retirement department) or using promises of low-cost options such as $9.95 life insurance plans (you know the one!). These messages can sound convincing, but they are not tailored to your needs and often leave out important details.
Even more concerning are scammers claiming to be from Social Security or another government agency. These individuals may call or message you. Now, they do not always ask for personal information. They often know more about you than you know about your own health and self!
They will tell you about yourself, ask to “verify” information, and/or ask for payment to “fix” an issue with your benefits.
Social Security will never call you asking for money or personal details over the phone. If you receive these messages, ignore them and/or let us know so we can guide you on how to handle the situation safely.
Here’s why having a Private Insurance Advisor—someone like us—is essential!
For Medicare Plans:
We ensure your coverage is correct and help you avoid the confusion caused by commercials or unsolicited offers.
For Health Insurance & ACA Plans:
We assist in selecting the right plan for your needs and budget, avoiding the pitfalls of poorly explained options.
For Life Insurance:
Plans marketed as “$9.95 a month” often come with significant limitations. We’ll help you find plans that truly protect your family.
For Scam Protection:
As your trusted advisor, we will help you identify and steer clear of fraudulent messages or calls pretending to offer legitimate services.
Let’s also talk about terms like “The Tennessee Plan”. This simply refers to any plan sold in Tennessee, much like home or auto insurance being state-specific. It’s not an official or special program, but advertisers use it to sound credible. Again, there are a FEW employers (STATE/ GOV RELATED) who will use this term. Their documents will only use GOVERNMENT website links (websites that end in .gov).
When unsure about a letter that you receive- take a picture and text or email it to us, immediately. We will read and confirm.
As you navigate your insurance and benefits, it’s natural for commercials or scammers to seem increasingly persuasive—just like children are influenced by cereal or toy commercials.
There’s no judgment here—our goal is to educate and protect you, ensuring your decisions are informed and in your best interest.
If you ever have questions or concerns about your insurance or receive a suspicious message, please reach out to us right away. We are here to ensure your peace of mind and help you avoid distractions or scams that could lead you astray.
